The US Department of State warns: The Chinese Communist Party threatens national security, financial markets, and infiltrates and influences US investors. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said this personally in an article from his Department of Defense.
Under Xi Jinping, the Chinese Communist Party has given priority to the so-called “military-civil merger”. This means that Chinese companies and researchers must – under threat of legal punishment – share technologies or important information relating with the Chinese military.
The goal of the Beijing regime is to ensure that the People’s Liberation Army has military dominance over other states, especially the US, and the main purpose of the regulations is to maintain the power of the Chinese Communist Party.
Investments that help finance communist Chinese military companies pose a national security risk to the United States, said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The Chinese Communist Party’s threat to American national security extends to financial markets and affects American investors. Many major stock and bond indices developed by index providers such as MSCI and FTSE also include malicious companies in the People’s Republic of China that are on the Department of Commerce’s Entity List or on the Department of Defense’s list of Communist Chinese Military Enterprises.
The money that flows into these index funds – often passively from US private investors – supports Chinese companies involved in both civil and military production.
Some of these companies manufacture technologies to monitor civilians and suppress human rights, as is the case with Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in China’s Xinjiang Province, as well as other repressive regimes such as Iran and Venezuela.
