No, how Sleepy Joe won the election is not the reason.
Newcomer stirs up Congress
Marjorie Taylor Greene did not take office as Georgia State Congress until January 3rd. But she is already making waves. In the hearing on the current impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump, she said on Wednesday:
“President Trump has held over 600 rallies in the last 4 years & none of them included assaulting police, destroying businesses or burning down cities.” Trump is accused of verbally provoking the crowd at the Capitol a week ago.
Referring to the Black Lives Matter movement, Taylor Greene added, “Democrats have spent all this time endorsing & enabling violent riots that left billions in property damage & 47 dead.”
That same evening, the new congresswoman made a big announcement on the US broadcaster Newsmax.
“We need to make sure our leaders are held accountable,” said Taylor Greene. “We cannot have a president who is willing to abuse his office power and who can simply be bribed by foreign governments, by Chinese and Ukrainian energy companies. So I’m going to file an impeachment trial against Joe Biden on January 21.”
Biden, as vice president, is said to have deliberately prevented corruption investigations against the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, on whose board of directors his son Hunter Biden sat. According to investigative journalist Peter Schweizer, Hunter Biden has also been involved in business with the state-owned Bank of China – since 2013, the year he accompanied his father on a state visit to Beijing.
Troublesome: A month after the US election, William Evanina, an official in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, alleged that the Chinese were planning to influence Biden and his people. It is a “campaign on steroids”.
Whatever the allegations: Biden should be firmly in the saddle by 2022. But then the Democrats have to defend their narrow majority in the House of Representatives. Let’s see how many Trump Republicans like Taylor Greene are ready to join her.
