WHO delegation in Wuhan: stepping in line with the Chinese government

The origin of Covid-19 remains in the dark. The WHO delegation in Wuhan works with limited possibilities and a firm opinion. Everything in the spirit of Beijing.

It is currently one of the most exciting questions of our time: What is the origin of Covid-19? One will certainly wait a long time for a serious analysis by the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV); especially since they strictly deny the WHO and other international organizations access to important raw data on the initial infection process and disease progression. As a result, the WHO itself sent a small delegation of scientists from various fields on a 12-day research excursion to carry out analyzes to help identify the cause of the outbreak. The behavior shown by these researchers cannot dispel the suspicion that the Chinese government is more interested in concealment than in education.

In China, people are said to be certain that the virus must come from outside, at least that’s what the government and the media have published. The main focus is on the thesis that the virus allegedly came to China through imported frozen food. However, this thesis is described as dubious by most international scientists.

Most scientists assume a so-called spillover infection. This means that a human becomes infected through eating, biting, or other contact with an infected animal. It is believed that “patient 0” contracted the infection through eating a bat or other animal from the delicatessen wet market in Wuhan. However, there is reason to believe that the virus could not have developed under natural conditions in such a way that it could use humans as hosts.

Hence, there is a third theory that is being considered by many scientists, namely that the virus was created and – accidentally or intentionally – released from a laboratory like the one in Wuhan. This theory seems to be plausible precisely because one of the largest and most important virus research laboratories in China, the WIV mentioned, is located in Wuhan, and the government is very opaque with any relevant information. In addition, some researchers at the WIV are said to have contracted a common seasonal disease in the fall. What was noticeable, however, was the accumulation of cases and the course of the disease, which often closely resembled the course of an infection of the Covid-19 virus, which supposedly only appeared months later.

Therefore, high hopes rested on the WHO delegation, but one has to assume that their findings were influenced and falsified by the communist regime, especially when Peter Ben Embarek – head of the WHO delegation in Wuhan – considers the laboratory hypothesis to be “extremely unlikely” and not worth further research. He considers personal discussions with the laboratory staff of the WIV to provide sufficient justification. He never questioned their transparency and honesty. Contrary to the majority of researchers, he considers the frozen food theory in particular to be “worth investigating” – that is, the preferred theory of the Chinese Communist Party. Tedros Ghebreyesus – WHO Director General – shortly thereafter declared that “all hypotheses remain open and require further investigation”. The Wall Street Journal rightly asks: “But who guarantees that?”

Particularly noticeable among the WHO delegation is the zoologist Peter Daszak. Although he has promised in the past that his research will be carried out with complete impartiality, he and EcoHealth Alliance (an NGO of which Daszak is president) helped draft a statement dismissing any theory that the virus originated unnaturally as an inflammatory conspiracy theory. “The fast, open and transparent sharing of data about this outbreak is now threatened by rumors and disinformation about its origin.” Daszak has always defended the Chinese government in other ways. Since the Chinese regime has never been transparent in handling the data on the outbreak, and most researchers worldwide do not consider an unnatural origin to be improbable, skepticism is appropriate.

Criticism is painful, but it makes us smarter

Daszak has also repeatedly attacked the US intelligence services lately, calling them untrustworthy and often declaring their information and research to be false. He himself speaks of looking for clusters of outbreaks that, firstly, were so severe that the patients drove to a hospital, and, secondly, were similar to that of Corona. US intelligence services see the wave of infections in the WIV as such a cluster, but Daszak rejects this and says that nothing like this would have happened before December.

These statements, which do not agree with the overwhelming opinion of researchers around the world, show the unquestioned trust in the Chinese government. And the rejection of press inquiries unfortunately makes the information from the WHO delegation appear rather dubious.
